Harriet Cant's Book Log

The Lost Boy - Dave Pelzer

The Lost Boy; a heart melting book guaranteed to leave no eyes dry. In this biography Pelzer describes the harsh, painful, and cruel lifestyle that he had to survive as a child and gives the audience in insight on how he manages to escape the unfair conditions. You can't help but continue to join Pelzer in his mission to live a normal life; a true page turner.

Pelzer introduces you to his alcoholic mother and how she abused him physically and mentally until Pelzer was forced to leave his own home in hope to find normality. He guides us through his adventure in the world on his own and gives his version of friends, social workers, foster parents and emotions and how they scarred him for life.

Pelzer describes the adventure until he was 18 years old, happily settled with loving parents, popular, and optimistic about his future in the U.S. air force. Now he's happily married and is proving to the world that even with an abusive mother, a betraying family, and a brutal childhood, that life can go on; and all through one biography.

I reccomend this book for lovers of history and for those prepared for a good cry, but I can guarantee that by reading this book all your problems are put into perspective and all that you have will not be taken for granted for a long time.
